On 27 October, Polyphenol Research participated in the 15th International Mediterranean Diet Congress held at the Palau Reial de Pedralbes in Barcelona. The event brought together researchers, health professionals, nutrition experts and culinary specialists to discuss current food-related challenges and present the updated scientific Mediterranean Diet pyramid.
Key topics included digital sedentary lifestyles, artificial intelligence, obesity and diabetes, highlighting the role of the Mediterranean Diet in promoting public health and well-being.
Our Principal Investigator, Rosa Lamuela, took part in the session “Mediterranean cuisine as a determinant of health, culture and tradition”, where she shared a scientific perspective on the relationship between foods, culinary practices and health outcomes. The session showcased the connection between research, culinary heritage and innovation.

The Congress also featured a round-table discussion involving experts in nutrition, medicine, gastronomy and science communication, addressing ways to bring healthy eating habits closer to everyday life. The event concluded with the Mediterranean Diet Values Commitment Ceremony 2026, reaffirming the importance of preserving a dietary model that represents health, culture, tradition and sustainability.
At Polyphenol Research, we remain committed to advancing research that improves our understanding of how foods and their bioactive compounds, including polyphenols, contribute to health and disease prevention.
