Why choose our group?

We are an active research group with numerous recently defended doctoral theses. Approximately 90% of them received international recognition and some have won the extraordinary doctoral thesis award and/or the best doctoral thesis award in Food Science from CCNIEC in Catalonia. Our alumni have obtained postdoctoral positions in prestigious international universities and have been awarded Juan de la Cierva, Sara Borrell, and Ramon y Cajal fellowships. In our research group, you will find an international working environment, as more than 70% of our predoctoral students come from different nationalities.

What are we looking for?

Internships: For undergraduate and master’s students, both national and international, who wish to carry out experimental internships. The Polyphenol Research Group supervises various Bachelor’s and Master’s theses each year and hosts students from different countries within the European Erasmus+ program. The minimum internship period will be 6 months / 1 semester.

PhD Program: We are seeking candidates to pursue their doctoral thesis within the Food and Nutrition Ph.D. program at the University of Barcelona. It is essential to have a Bachelor’s and official Master’s degree, provided that at least 300 ECTS credits have been completed in both of these courses. Candidates must have a strong academic record to be eligible for pre-doctoral contracts (Average grade ≥8 in the Spanish grading system).

Postdoctoral Program: We are looking for Ph.D. holders who want to develop their postdoctoral stage within our research group. It is a prerequisite that the Ph.D. holders have at least 5 publications as the first author in first-quartile journals and have undertaken a research stay abroad during their Ph.D. The postdoctoral stay will be linked to a grant that the researcher must apply for with the support of the group.
