Why choose our group?
We are an active research group with numerous recently defended doctoral theses. Approximately 90% of them received international recognition and some have won the extraordinary doctoral thesis award and/or the best doctoral thesis award in Food Science from CCNIEC in Catalonia. Our alumni have obtained postdoctoral positions in prestigious international universities and have been awarded Juan de la Cierva, Sara Borrell, and Ramon y Cajal fellowships. In our research group, you will find an international working environment, as more than 70% of our predoctoral students come from different nationalities.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for candidates to carry out a PhD within the Food and Nutrition program at the University of Barcelona. We are seeking graduates from all over the world in science with an official master’s degree, except for graduates in pharmacy and medicine. Candidates must have a good academic record to be eligible for predoctoral scholarships, with an average grade of 8 or above in the Spanish system (https://www.educacionyfp.gob.es/servicios-al-ciudadano/catalogo/gestion-titulos/estudios-universitarios/titulos-extranjeros/equivalencia-notas-medias.html).
We are also looking for candidates to carry out their postdoctoral stage. We seek doctors with at least 5 first-author publications, in the first quartile, and who have conducted research abroad.
Both the doctoral thesis and the postdoctoral stage will be carried out at the Department of Nutrition, Food Science and Gastronomy located at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Science (Campus Diagonal) and at the Torribera Food Campus.
