Dr. Maria Pérez Bosch has been promoted to Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Nutrition, Food Sciences, and Gastronomy at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences (Torribera Food Campus) at the University of Barcelona. This significant achievement reflects her dedication and excellence in scientific research and teaching, marking an important milestone in her academic career.
Dr. Maria Pérez holds a degree in Pharmacy, completed a Master’s in Experimental Sciences in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and earned a PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona. In 2014, she received the GEPRONAT award for best emerging researcher, granted by the Specialized Group on Natural Products Chemistry of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry, a group of which she is currently secretary of its Board of Directors. In 2018, Dr. Pérez joined the Department of Nutrition, Food Sciences, and Gastronomy at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences as an Associate Professor (Serra Hunter Program). Since then, she has reoriented her research to apply her expertise in chemistry to the field of food sciences, joining the “Natural Antioxidants” group led by Prof. Rosa M. Lamuela Raventós. Her work now focuses on determining bioactive compounds in food, with particular emphasis on how soil fertilization affects the composition of vegetables (in collaboration with Dr. Joan Romanyà, UB) and on the impact of cooking, production, and storage on food quality.
